The Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA) proudly announced Cole Winward as the recipient of the 2026 AGA Gemological Scholarship, acknowledging his profound commitment to gemological studies.
Cole's early life in Utah, surrounded by a gemologist parent, ignited a lifelong fascination with gems, minerals, and geological sciences. This early exposure fostered a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Following a two-year mission in Guatemala, where he personally encountered active volcanoes and earthquakes, Cole pursued geology at Brigham Young University before commencing his gemological training at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
Presently, Cole's professional endeavors are concentrated on the identification and analysis of gemstones utilizing advanced scientific instruments. He has also engaged in significant research concerning the geographical origins of sapphires. As he progresses towards obtaining his GIA Graduate Gemologist certification, Cole remains steadfast in his ambition to propel the field of gemology through ongoing research, creative solutions, and groundbreaking discoveries.
