Unlock the Future of Visual Storytelling: Angelbird's CFexpress 4.0 Type A Cards Set New Standards

Introducing the Next Generation of Angelbird Memory Cards

At the recent IBC 2026 event in Amsterdam, Angelbird proudly showcased its cutting-edge CFexpress 4.0 Type A memory cards. This release positions Angelbird as a key player in advancing memory storage solutions for professional content creators, alongside other industry leaders. The new product line is designed to push the boundaries of speed and reliability, catering to an ever-evolving market.

Unmatched Performance and Certification for Demanding Workflows

The new Angelbird AV Pro CFexpress v4 Type A cards are available in three substantial capacities: 400GB, 800GB, and a robust 1.6TB (1600GB). A standout feature of these cards is their dual VPG certification, meaning they are both VPG400 and VPG800 certified. The VPG400 certification ensures seamless compatibility and performance with today's high-speed cameras, such as the Sony FX5, which has significant memory requirements. The VPG800 certification, on the other hand, positions these cards as 'future-proof,' capable of handling the even more stringent demands of upcoming cinema cameras.

Varying Write Speeds and Consistent Read Performance Across the Range

While all three capacities share the same VPG400 and VPG800 certifications, guaranteeing consistent sustained write speeds, their maximum sustained write speeds differ. The 400GB variant achieves a sustained write speed of up to 1000 MB/s. The 800GB and 1600GB cards offer even faster performance, reaching 1500 MB/s and 1600 MB/s sustained write speeds, respectively. For read operations, all three cards deliver a maximum read speed of up to 1870 MB/s and a sustained read speed of 1700 MB/s. This high-speed read capability, especially when paired with CFexpress 4.0 card readers, promises significantly faster file offloading, enhancing efficiency for professional workflows.

Engineered for Durability in Extreme Environments

Angelbird has built these CFexpress cards to endure challenging conditions. They are designed to operate effectively in extreme temperatures ranging from -12° to 72° C (10° to 162° F) and can be safely stored in temperatures from -20° to 85° C (-4° to 185° F). Furthermore, these cards boast robust shock and vibration resistance, ensuring their reliability and longevity in various demanding shooting scenarios.

Optimized for High-Resolution Photography and Videography

These new CFexpress 4.0 Type A memory cards are perfectly suited for a wide array of professional applications, including rapid RAW photo bursts and advanced video recording in resolutions up to 8K and 12K. It's important to note, however, that while CFexpress 4.0 technology offers theoretical speeds double that of CFexpress 2.0, most commercially available cameras currently operate using CFexpress 2.0 pipelines. This means that while the cards are capable of higher speeds, the full potential of CFexpress 4.0 will only be realized with future camera models designed to fully utilize this advanced technology.

Availability and Investment Details

The Angelbird AV Pro CFexpress v4 Type A memory cards are now available for pre-order. The 400GB card is priced at $399.99, the 800GB card at $599.99, and the 1600GB card at $899.99. The 1600GB option stands out as the most cost-effective choice on a dollar-per-gigabyte basis, offering substantial value for professional users requiring extensive storage capacity.
