Conversely, when the CB1 receptor's activity was suppressed, the animals' ability to form these alcohol-related reward associations diminished. This indicates that the CB1 receptor, located in a critical brain pathway involved in motivation and reward processing, is a key player in this anxiety-alcohol interaction.
