The Leonard Street Rowhouse, completed in 2025, spans 6,000 square feet in Greenpoint, skillfully combining a townhouse and a penthouse behind a unified brick facade. This innovative design, featuring a slanted, corbeled depression, draws inspiration from traditional Brooklyn aesthetics while presenting a contemporary interpretation. The project showcases a thoughtful blend of historical elements and cutting-edge design, creating a distinctive dwelling that stands out yet belongs.
The architects meticulously considered the varied architectural styles of the neighborhood, which include homes with blue siding and red brick. Their approach aimed to fill a contextual gap with a new facade that honors the area's original brick structures while subtly delineating the two separate homes. This dual objective was achieved through a unique brickwork pattern that creates a welcoming, shared entryway for both residences.
