Chevy Silverado EV Becomes Most Affordable Full-Size Electric Pickup in the US

Instructions

In a significant shift within the electric vehicle market, the Chevrolet Silverado EV has claimed the title of the most economical full-size electric pickup available in the United States. This development follows the recent cessation of production for the Ford F-150 Lightning, which was previously the leading contender in affordability.

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV will introduce minor price adjustments, with the base 4WT Work Truck model beginning at $53,200, representing a $400 increase from the previous year. Despite these changes, the Silverado EV maintains a competitive stance against rivals such as the GMC Sierra EV, Tesla Cybertruck, and Rivian R1T. It offers a range of battery options, including a standard-range battery providing up to 286 miles, an extended-range version reaching 424 miles, and a Max option with an impressive 493 miles. For enthusiasts of off-road capabilities, the Trail Boss trim makes a return, featuring a 2-inch lift, enhanced ground clearance, and specialized off-road functionalities like Terrain Mode and a finely tuned suspension system. This model also boasts unique design elements, all-terrain tires, and robust towing and payload capacities, delivering up to 760 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque.

Inside, the Silverado EV is equipped with a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 11-inch driver display, both standard with integrated Google services. Optional upgrades include a 14-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) and GM's Super Cruise driver-assist technology, enhancing both connectivity and driving convenience. While the Silverado EV currently holds the top spot for affordability, new models from Ford and Slate are anticipated to enter the market soon, suggesting that the landscape of affordable electric pickups may continue to evolve.

The advent of accessible electric vehicles like the Chevrolet Silverado EV represents a pivotal moment in sustainable transportation, demonstrating that eco-friendly options can also be economically viable. This trend empowers more consumers to embrace electric mobility, contributing to a cleaner future and a more efficient automotive industry.
