The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro's software journey will culminate with the Android 17 QPR1 release, a minor update compared to the QPR2, which is now being rolled out to newer Pixel devices through beta channels. Users can expect an August security patch, a September Pixel Drop bundled with the QPR1 update, and a final security patch in October. Following this, Google will cease all further security and feature updates for both handsets. Notably, the Pixel 6a, introduced a year later, operates on a distinct update schedule and is slated to continue receiving security updates until July 2027. Google has yet to unveil any modifications to its Pixel update policy beyond this stated cutoff, with the upcoming Pixel 11 series anticipated to maintain the standard five-year support period upon its August launch.
