The repair process unveiled a remarkable stratigraphy of superimposed walls, dating from the Five Dynasties, Song, Ming, and Qing periods, which prompted the National Cultural Heritage Administration to sanction a comprehensive archaeological excavation.
Architectural Philosophy: Weaving Past and Present
Qing Studio's design philosophy for the pavilion centered on creating a harmonious interplay between the unearthed historical layers and contemporary architectural expression. The objective was not merely to enclose the ruins but to make them an integral part of a dynamic exhibition narrative.
