These criminal acts include an attempted break-in at a Mississauga jewellery store between July 18 and 19, where suspects failed to gain entry, resulting in no losses. In North York, on July 21, at approximately 3 a.m., an alarm system thwarted a break-in attempt when suspects damaged an anti-burglary glass panel but fled before entering the store. Less than an hour later, a Yorkville jewellery business suffered a burglary where intruders smashed the front door and window, setting off an alarm. Toronto Police are investigating this incident, which is believed to have resulted in the theft of a small amount of jewellery left outside a safe. Furthermore, on July 23, around 4 a.m., four individuals attempted to ram the rear entrance of a Scarborough jewellery store with a vehicle. They intended to quickly grab merchandise, but upon discovering an owner present inside, they immediately fled, causing significant damage but no theft.
These occurrences collectively point to an escalating pattern of overnight criminal activity targeting jewellery businesses throughout the GTA.
