BassmastHER Program Concludes Successful Third Season, Empowering Female Anglers

Instructions

The BassmastHER program, a pioneering initiative by Bassmaster in collaboration with Toyota, has successfully wrapped up its third season, marking significant strides in empowering female anglers. This program, conceived to cultivate a conducive learning atmosphere for women in fishing, has demonstrated remarkable growth in engagement and membership, reinforcing its vital role within the angling community.

Empowering Women in Fishing: A Legacy of Growth and Community

The Genesis of an Empowering Initiative: BassmastHER's Vision and Partnership

In 2024, Bassmaster, renowned for establishing professional bass fishing and its associated tournaments, inaugurated the BassmastHER program. This initiative was specifically crafted to engage female anglers, offering them a supportive space to learn directly from other experienced women in the sport. Recognizing the program's potential, Toyota, a prominent supporter of bass fishing, joined forces with Bassmaster, contributing essential resources to propel BassmastHER's mission forward.

Leadership and Outreach: The Role of Program Ambassadors

To spearhead this endeavor, B.A.S.S. appointed three distinguished female anglers as Program Ambassadors: Kristine Fischer from Nebraska, Anastasia Patterson from South Carolina, and Maggie Jo Carsello from Wisconsin. These ambassadors became the public face of BassmastHER, traveling nationwide to host educational workshops. These events are strategically aligned with major fishing gatherings, including The Bassmaster Classic, Elite Series events, and the Toyota Bonus Bucks Owners Tournaments, ensuring broad accessibility and impact.

Tangible Impact: Remarkable Growth in Participation and Membership

While the initial objective was to create a comfortable learning environment for female anglers, a delightful outcome has been the cultivation of a robust national community for women in fishing through these workshops. Bassmaster reports substantial increases in both workshop attendance and female membership since the program's inception. Specifically, BassmastHER has observed a 12% year-over-year rise in workshop attendance, while Bassmaster itself has experienced an impressive 250% surge in female memberships.

Fulfilling the Mission: Ambassadors' Perspectives on Community Building

Beyond the impressive statistics, the Ambassadors express deep satisfaction in witnessing the tangible positive changes brought about by the program. Ambassador Kristine Fischer articulated her profound sense of purpose, noting how the initiative is actively reaching women and positively influencing the wider sport of fishing. She emphasized the privilege of utilizing the B.A.S.S. platform to motivate more women to discover their place in fishing, embark on their angling aspirations, and achieve their goals.

Bassmaster's Endorsement: Nurturing the Next Generation of Anglers

As the organization credited with pioneering much of modern-day fishing, Bassmaster is heartened by the enthusiastic embrace of the program and its Ambassadors by female anglers. Mary Kathryn Thomas, Bassmaster's Director of Sponsorship and Licensing, described the program's evolution from a mere concept into a thriving community as immensely gratifying. She underscored that the program's expansion highlights the eagerness of women and girls to engage with fishing, reiterating Bassmaster's dedication to continuously fostering opportunities that welcome, connect, and inspire future generations of anglers.

Upcoming Engagements: Concluding the 2026 Season Workshops

For the 2026 season, five BassmastHER workshops were held in conjunction with B.A.S.S. Elite events and the Bassmaster Classic. The fifth workshop took place at the season's culminating event at the St. Lawrence River. A sixth and final workshop for the 2026 season is scheduled for Saturday, October 17th, at the 15th annual Toyota Bonus Bucks Owners Tournament in Scottsboro, AL.
