Historically, Clemson has consistently sent its signal-callers to the ACC Kickoff. DJ Uiagalelei attended in 2021 and 2022, followed by Cade Klubnik from 2023 to 2025. The event was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic. The last time a Clemson quarterback was absent from the kickoff was in 2019, when offensive lineman John Simpson and safety Tanner Muse represented the team instead of then-quarterback Trevor Lawrence. This year's selection underscores the current fluidity of the quarterback depth chart, with coach Dabo Swinney indicating Christopher Vizzina holds an edge, though Tait Reynolds could still seize the starting role during preseason practices.
The chosen representatives are all key players for the Tigers. Sammy Brown, a junior linebacker, has already distinguished himself, earning ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year and All-America honors in 2025. His impressive 2025 season included a team-leading 106 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, and an interception. Brown's consistent presence on the field is notable, as he has not missed a single game in his collegiate career and is one of only 26 FBS players in the last two decades to achieve at least five sacks and ten tackles for loss in both their freshman and sophomore years. Will Heldt, a senior defensive end who transferred from Purdue, also had a strong 2025 season, recording 46 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and earning third-team All-ACC recognition. Olsen Patt-Henry, a senior tight end, emerged as a reliable starter, contributing 16 receptions for 126 yards and crucial blocking in the running game.
