Community Events and Updates in Walnut Township

Instructions

A variety of exciting community events are set to take place in the near future, providing opportunities for education, socialization, and celebration. Among these is the Buckeye Lake Tri-County Kids’ Bike Safety Rodeo, scheduled for May 10 at the Millersport Elementary School parking lot. Regardless of weather conditions, this event promises an engaging day focused on bicycle safety for children aged 5 to 10 who can ride without training wheels. Participants will engage in interactive activities designed to enhance their cycling skills while having fun.

In addition to the bike rodeo, other significant happenings include the Millersport Lions Community Market and the annual Alumni Banquet of Millersport High School. The market, occurring from May through October, invites residents to gather every second and fourth Wednesday evening, with slight adjustments in August due to the Sweet Corn Festival. Meanwhile, the 96th annual Alumni Banquet offers a chance for past students to reconnect over a delightful two-meat buffet dinner. Reservations must be made by May 23 to secure attendance at this memorable gathering held on May 31.

The recent meeting of the Walnut Township Trustees highlighted updates on local operations and initiatives. During their April 16 session, discussions encompassed law enforcement activity reports, preparations for the upcoming Sweet Corn Festival, and financial reviews. Public concerns regarding a proposed data center were addressed during the open comment period. Additionally, updates were provided on emergency services, equipment maintenance, zoning permits, and infrastructure improvements following recent storms. These developments underscore the township's commitment to fostering a safe, connected, and thriving community where everyone has a voice.
