Dennis Praet Secures New Deal with KV Mechelen After Antwerp Departure

Instructions

Former Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet has found a new home in Belgian football, penning a two-year deal with KV Mechelen. This move comes after his departure from Antwerp at the end of the 2025/2026 season, signifying a significant step in his professional career. Praet's signing adds depth and experience to KV Mechelen's squad, as he returns to a league where he initially rose to prominence.

Praet's journey in professional football began with Anderlecht, where he made his debut during the 2011/2012 season. His impressive performances over five seasons with the club earned him a move to Italian side Sampdoria. During his three-year stint at Sampdoria, Praet featured in over 100 matches, netting four goals, before making the transition to the English Premier League with Leicester City in the summer of 2019.

Despite his talent, Praet struggled to consistently secure a starting spot at Leicester City. After 60 appearances, he was loaned to Torino for the 2021/2022 campaign. Upon his return to Leicester, he spent two more seasons before making a permanent switch to Antwerp. His tenure at Antwerp, spanning the last two seasons since leaving Leicester City, saw him play 67 games and score one goal.

This latest transfer to KV Mechelen represents Praet's third club in Belgium, bringing his career full circle. Having played for Anderlecht and Antwerp, he is now set to embark on a new chapter with KV Mechelen, aiming to utilize his wealth of experience to contribute significantly to his new team's success. The move provides him with an opportunity to re-establish his form and presence in Belgian football.
