Frieze New York has officially released the roster of over 65 galleries set to participate in its 2026 edition, which will be the sixth iteration held at the Shed in Hudson Yards. The fair is scheduled from May 13–17, a shift in its usual timing to prevent overlap with the professional days and opening of the 2026 Venice Biennale, ensuring broader attendance and engagement from the international art community.
The upcoming Frieze New York will feature a robust lineup of established and influential art institutions. Renowned galleries such as Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Pace Gallery, David Zwirner, White Cube, Thaddaeus Ropac, Victoria Miro, Kukje, Kurimanzutto, Ortuzar, and Instituto de Visión are all confirmed participants. This esteemed list promises a comprehensive display of contemporary art from across the globe. Additionally, three galleries that previously exhibited in the fair's Focus section for emerging art spaces—G Gallery, Mitre Galeria, and Yeo Workshop—have advanced to the main exhibitor list, showcasing their growth and increasing prominence in the art market.
This year's fair also welcomes two new international galleries, Lawrie Shabibi from Dubai and Johyun Gallery from Seoul and Busan, South Korea. Both galleries have a history of participating in other major art events, including Frieze's London and Seoul editions, as well as the Armory Show in New York. Lawrie Shabibi recently exhibited at the inaugural Art Basel Qatar, while Johyun Gallery is preparing for its third appearance at Frieze Los Angeles later this month. Their inclusion adds further global diversity to the New York fair.
Christine Messineo, Frieze's director of the Americas, emphasized the fair's commitment to presenting a dynamic overview of current artistic practices. She stated that Frieze New York offers a "snapshot of the most compelling artistic practices today in an international city that embraces rigor, complexity and ambition." Messineo also highlighted the fair's strong connections with New York's cultural institutions, particularly in time-based media and performance art, which extend its influence beyond the physical venue into the broader urban landscape.
Independent curator Lumi Tan will once again organize the Focus section, which is dedicated to galleries that have been in operation for 12 years or less. This section will feature 11 galleries, with seven making their debut at Frieze New York. Newcomers include Europa, Isla Flotante, Sargent’s Daughters, Soft Opening, and Campeche. Notably, Campeche co-founder Fátima González and Omayra Alvarado, executive director and co-founder of Instituto de Visión, have joined the fair’s selection committee, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise.
Tan expressed her enthusiasm for the diverse range of media and cultural narratives represented in the Focus section. She noted that the solo presentations demonstrate how both established and emerging artists are actively engaged in "world-building," envisioning new structures and forms to address significant themes. These topics range from pressing global issues like ecological devastation and urban spectacle to more intimate human experiences, such as the bond between a mother and child, reflecting the expansive and thoughtful nature of contemporary artistic inquiry.
The complete list of participating galleries and those featured in the Focus section follows below, offering a detailed overview of the artistic landscape that will be presented at Frieze New York 2026.
