Users can access and manage Motion Assist through their Google Play Settings. The pathway involves navigating to 'Settings,' then 'Your profile,' followed by 'All services,' and finally locating 'Motion Assist' within the 'Personal & device safety' section. A key aspect of its design is the ability to automatically activate when the device detects it is in a moving vehicle. Furthermore, Google has integrated a Quick Settings tile, offering users a convenient toggle to manually enable or disable the feature without delving deep into the settings menu. When active, a notification is displayed, confirming its operation and providing a quick option to deactivate it.

A significant improvement in the current iteration of Motion Assist, compared to its earlier developmental stages, lies in its handling of system-level restrictions. Initially, the feature relied on the 'Display over other apps' permission, which limited its visibility over critical UI elements like the Settings app, status bar, notifications, Quick Settings, lock screen, and volume panel. However, Google has since implemented OS-level API modifications specifically for Motion Assist, allowing its visual indicators to overlay both other applications and system UI components seamlessly. The feature also provides various customization options, enabling users to adjust the color, shape, and opacity of the motion indicators, with a 'Randomization' option to vary these settings automatically.
