This exhibition meticulously chronicles the artistic collaboration between twin brothers Nikolai and Simon Haas, showcasing 85 works produced between 2014 and 2025, including several never-before-seen pieces. Curated by Laura Mott of the Cranbrook Art Museum in Detroit, "Uncanny Valley" encompasses a diverse array of mediums, including sculpture, ceramics, painting, furniture, and intricate process studies.

Since establishing their Los Angeles-based studio in 2010, the Haas Brothers have gained recognition for their biomorphic forms that possess an intriguing blend of whimsy and meticulous construction. Examples include the "Accretion" ceramic series, which draws inspiration from coral growth, and their elaborately beaded botanical sculptures, crafted from thousands of antique Venetian glass beads. The "Uncanny Valley" Explored: A Core Artistic Theme
The exhibition's compelling title is borrowed from a psychological concept, which Simon Haas identifies as a central thread woven throughout their entire body of work. Simon elucidates, "The 'uncanny valley' typically pertains to robotics, where empathy for a robot intensifies proportionally to its human-like qualities, up to a certain threshold. Beyond this point, if the robot becomes excessively human, empathy rapidly transforms into revulsion. The common solution to this phenomenon is to introduce elements of cuteness. From a comprehensive perspective of our 15-year career, the 'uncanny valley' has emerged as a fundamental theme."

Following its New York engagement, the exhibition will embark on a tour to the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, Texas, and subsequently to the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
