The Jewelry Symposium (TJS) is set to enhance its 2027 event with an innovative education day, featuring six distinct seminars dedicated to the fundamental aspects of jewelry manufacturing. This new program, known as the Jewelry Manufacturing Fundamentals, is scheduled for May 15, 2027, at the Marriott Detroit in Troy, Michigan, serving as a prelude to the primary symposium presentations.
Co-sponsored by industry leaders Ransom & Randolph and Stuller, the sessions will be led by seasoned professionals attending the symposium. The curriculum is specifically designed to cater to individuals new to jewelry manufacturing, encompassing students, apprentices, and emerging jewelry artisans. To encourage widespread participation from those entering the industry, attendance will be offered at a special reduced rate, with limited seating available to ensure an optimal learning environment. The comprehensive topics will span essential materials such as metals, stones, and solders, alongside critical processes like design, casting, finishing, setting, and plating, providing a holistic understanding of the manufacturing pipeline and the interconnections between its various stages.
Linus Drogs, Chairman of the TJS board, emphasized that a core tenet of The Jewelry Symposium's mission is to cultivate and advance all segments of the jewelry-making community, a key component of which involves attracting fresh talent into the sector. Beyond supporting new entrants, the program also welcomes experienced professionals looking to expand their expertise through cross-training or gain deeper insights into manufacturing disciplines that complement their current work. Registration for this immersive day includes access to all six seminars and lunch, culminating in an interactive question-and-answer session with presenters, TJS board members, and other industry experts, fostering invaluable networking and knowledge exchange opportunities. Participants also have the option to purchase tickets for the TJS Welcome Dinner on Saturday evening.
This initiative underscores a commitment to advancing the craft and ensuring a vibrant future for the jewelry industry by empowering both new and established professionals with essential skills and knowledge. By offering a platform for learning and collaboration, TJS is actively shaping the next generation of jewelry manufacturing excellence.
