New 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Comic Series 'Kyoshi Warriors' Announced by Original Creators and Dark Horse

Instructions

A new comic book series, an exciting extension of the beloved 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' universe, is being introduced this spring. This new venture is a collaboration between Dark Horse Comics and the esteemed co-creators of the original animated series, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, alongside Avatar Studios.

The upcoming series, titled 'Avatar: The Last Airbender — Kyoshi Warriors,' will unfold its narrative over three monthly installments. The story centers on Suki and the formidable Kyoshi Warriors as they leave their peaceful island to engage in the broader conflict against the Fire Nation. Upon arriving on the mainland, they encounter distrust and resentment from the local populace, forcing them to vigorously demonstrate their value to the Earth Kingdom. A pivotal question arises: will they be compelled to compromise their core principles as Kyoshi Warriors to seize an opportunity to prove their worth?

Penned by Brandon Hoáng, with illustrations by BellBessa and Xanthe Bouma, colors by Adele Matera, and lettering by Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt, the series promises a rich visual and narrative experience. The initial cover art for 'Kyoshi Warriors,' crafted by Danielle Weires, who will design all three covers, offers an enticing glimpse into the saga. The first issue of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Kyoshi Warriors,' comprising 22 pages and priced at $4.99, is scheduled for release on May 6 and is currently available for preorder. This new collection builds upon Dark Horse's existing partnership with the 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' franchise, having previously published numerous comic books and graphic novels, and arrives just before the premiere of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the show.

This new comic series embodies the spirit of courage, integrity, and the constant struggle to maintain one's identity and values in the face of adversity. It reminds us that true strength lies not only in battle prowess but also in unwavering commitment to one's principles, even when challenged by external skepticism and internal conflict. The journey of the Kyoshi Warriors serves as an inspiring narrative, highlighting the importance of proving oneself through actions and staying true to one's ethical foundation.
