Samyang and Schneider-Kreuznach Introduce 14-24mm Lens for L-Mount

Instructions

The L-mount system is rapidly emerging as a highly attractive choice for photographers, largely due to the extensive array of available optical devices. A prime illustration of this trend is the recent introduction of the LK Samyang x Schneider-Kreuznach AF 14-24mm f/2.8 zoom lens. This lens, which initially debuted for Sony users, has garnered significant attention and is now being made available for the L-mount, thanks to a collaborative alliance.

This 14-24mm lens distinguishes itself as the world's first ultra-wide zoom lens designed to accommodate front filters. Unveiled at CP+ 2026, it represents the first in a series of three lenses from LK Samyang and Schneider-Kreuznach. Future additions to this line will include an AF 24-60mm f/2.8 and an AF 60-180mm f/2.8, aiming to provide photographers with a constant aperture across a broad range of focal lengths. These lenses are tailored to meet the needs of photographers specializing in various genres, such as landscape, event, wedding, portrait, sports, wildlife, bird, and astrophotography.

The L-mount, a partnership between Panasonic, Leica, and Sigma, benefits significantly from this new offering. While Leica and Panasonic contribute excellent proprietary lenses, third-party manufacturers like Sigma, LK Samyang, Viltrox, and Sirui offer competitive alternatives. The LK Samyang option, in particular, is noted for its lighter weight and front filter compatibility—features highly requested by landscape and architectural photographers. Its close focusing distance further enhances its versatility for creative professionals. While the US pricing is yet to be announced, the European price tag of 1,049 pounds (approximately $1,426) positions it as an accessible option compared to many zoom lenses that typically range from $1,500 to $2,000.

The availability of the Samyang x Schneider-Kreuznach 14-24mm lens for the L-mount marks a positive development for photographers seeking high-quality, versatile, and relatively affordable optics. This expansion not only enriches the L-mount ecosystem but also empowers artists with more tools to capture their unique visions, fostering innovation and accessibility within the photographic community. Embracing such advancements allows photographers to explore new creative avenues, pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling and inspiring future generations of image-makers.
