Ventum Unveils Lighter, More Aerodynamic NS1 V3 Road Bike

Instructions

Ventum, a Utah-based cycling brand, has recently unveiled the latest iteration of its flagship road bike, the NS1 V3, which is engineered to offer an optimized balance of lightness, aerodynamic efficiency, and rider comfort. This new model builds upon the success of its predecessors, aiming to capture a broader market beyond its current stronghold in the US, with Europe being a key target.

Ventum NS1 V3: A New Era of Road Cycling Performance

The much-anticipated third generation of the Ventum NS1 is meticulously crafted to be a versatile companion for cyclists, whether tackling arduous mountain ascents or navigating flat, wind-swept roads. The development team at Ventum focused on three core improvements: shedding weight, enhancing aerodynamic performance, and refining the bike’s fit without compromising its agile handling characteristics.

A significant achievement in the new design is a weight reduction of 203 grams in the medium/large (56cm) frame size compared to its forerunner. This was accomplished through a revised carbon fiber layup and an optimized production process. Notably, the front end of the frame and the seatstays have undergone mass reduction, with the latter appearing considerably slimmer.

Aerodynamic advancements are evident in the reshaped front end, which draws inspiration from Ventum’s Tempus TT bike. It features a deeper, sharper profile and an hourglass-shaped head tube that substantially reduces the bike’s frontal area. The newly designed fork incorporates deeper airfoils that extend from the head tube, not only improving airflow but also boosting stiffness. Ventum reports a 7.7% increase in head tube stiffness and an 11.9% increase at the bottom bracket, which are crucial areas for power transfer and responsive handling.

To cater to riders who demand comfort during long rides across varied terrains, Ventum has subtly adjusted the NS1 V3’s geometry. The stack height has been increased across all sizes, with the M/L size seeing an increase of up to 13mm, now measuring 565mm. This adjustment is intended to help riders maintain an aerodynamic position more comfortably. Reach figures remain largely consistent, with the M/L size at 397mm, a mere 2mm increase from the previous model. Additionally, the wheelbase has been extended by 6mm in the M/L size, enhancing stability while preserving the bike’s responsive steering.

Other notable features include generous 35mm tire clearance, a T47 bottom bracket for improved power transfer and durability, and compatibility with the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard.

The Ventum NS1 V3 is available for purchase as a frameset, priced at $3,599.00. Complete bike builds start at $5,499 for models equipped with SRAM Rival AXS and can go up to $11,299 for those featuring Shimano Dura-Ace Di2. Additional groupset options include Shimano Ultegra Di2 and SRAM Force AXS, offering cyclists a range of choices to suit their preferences and budgets.

The unveiling of the Ventum NS1 V3 signals a continued push by the brand to innovate within the high-performance road bike segment. By prioritizing weight, aerodynamics, and rider comfort, Ventum is positioning the NS1 V3 as a strong contender for cyclists seeking a versatile and high-performing machine. This release also underscores the evolving landscape of cycling technology, where continuous refinements lead to more efficient and enjoyable riding experiences. The focus on both performance metrics and rider ergonomics reflects a mature understanding of what modern cyclists truly value in their equipment.
