The Volcano-In site gracefully perches on the southern fringe of the vast Xilingol Steppe, bordered by the Otindag Sandy Land to the south, Dali Lake to the east, the towering Yanshan Mountains, and the expansive Greater Khingan Range further east. To its west lies the ecologically significant Baiyinkulun Relict Gull Nature Reserve.
