Instructions

The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association has announced the ten semifinalists for the esteemed 2026 Ms. Basketball Award. This prestigious accolade, celebrating excellence in senior female basketball athletes across Wisconsin, has been a tradition since 1982.

These distinguished players include Samantha Davis from Aquinas, Giselle Janowski representing Pewaukee, Ady Ketterhagen of Oostburg, Rowan Klesmit from Neenah, Maya Kovacic of Brookfield East, Natalie Kussow from Arrowhead, Mikaia Litza of Wauwatosa East, Leah Nordin from Shawano, Adaline Sheplee from Rice Lake, and Alahnna Simpson from La Crosse Central. The selection process ensures that only senior athletes are considered for this honor, a practice that has been in place since 2002. A dedicated committee composed of WBCA Executive Board members undertakes the nomination and selection.

Following the conclusion of the regular season at the end of February, the roster of candidates will be further refined to five finalists. The ultimate recipient of the 2026 Ms. Basketball Award will be revealed at the WIAA state girls basketball tournament, scheduled to take place from March 12-14 at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon. Notably, the Milwaukee area has recently seen considerable success, with players from the region claiming the award in two of the past three seasons, highlighting the strong basketball talent pool in that vicinity.

The announcement of these semifinalists shines a light on the exceptional talent and dedication present in Wisconsin high school basketball. It serves as a testament to the hard work and commitment these young women demonstrate both on and off the court, inspiring future generations to pursue their athletic dreams with passion and perseverance. Such recognition not only celebrates individual achievements but also underscores the vibrant competitive spirit within the sport, reinforcing positive values and healthy competition.
